Ballet is by for the toughest type of dance you can do. People have to train their entire lives just to be considered good. Dedication is a daily thing that requires a person to live the lifestyle of a ballet dancer. It means strict practicing schedules, eating properly every single day and adding in additional exercise to make sure you're in the best physical shape you can possibly be. If you're up for the challenge than I'll teach you some of the ballet terminology, so you don't get confused. The most common term you'll hear is ballet master. This is the person that is given the job of training everyone. They're typically a third party that comes in and makes creates the ballet routine as well as training the dancers to do it correctly. Port de bras is a term that describes some very basic exercises that teach you to move your arms graciously. Most people move their arms very rigidly and it is important to to make it extremely gracious. Attitude is quite a common in ballet terminology, but it doesn't literally mean your attitude. This is a very unique position where a dancer raises their leg up behind their body and bends at the knees to make a 90 degree angle. The point is to get the knee as high as possible. |
